"He's fed up": at the Agricultural Show, the shadow of the Bétharram affair hangs over François Bayrou

On Monday, during a long visit to the Agricultural Show, the Prime Minister dodged all questions about the complaint filed against him in the Catholic school affair.

François Bayrou is in a playful mood this Monday, as he takes a break with Oupette, the Limousin muse of theSalon de l'agriculture . Having survived another censorship last week, pacing the aisles that are calm – or lifeless? – after last year's spectacular eruption of anger, the Prime Minister is enjoying it. "It's my world, the agricultural world," insists the man who, as a young graduate, took over the family farm after his father's death.

And so begins a very structured visit ― before another detour announced by the show for Wednesday ― with a few selfies, the ritual handshakes and tastings of all kinds (yogurt, beer, oysters, tea, etc.) but without a crowd bath. For eleven hours, François Bayrou went from stand to stand for long discussions behind closed doors with "the sectors". Of course, "not all the problems have been resolved" , he has to admit, but after the vote on the agricultural orientation law, he considers "the climate very positive". He even indulges in the coquetry of a very personal allusion: "The Béarnaise is a breed that was in extinction that we managed to save." Any resemblance...
